Completed: Day of Infamy

On April 13, I finished reading Day of Infamy, by Walter Lord.

I enjoyed this book very much.  It is a real version of what happened and how individuals responded to exceptional circumstances.  Here is my review post with some pictures of the USS Arizona Memorial.

Hit The Books 2010: Wuthering Heighs

I have mentioned before that my in-laws got Hubby and me a Kindle for Christmas.  Most of my reading material comes from the 19th century, and I have discovered that many classic books are available for free for the kindle.  Wuthering Heights is one such book.

I ended up watching the movie with Laurence Olivier over the holidays.  The book goes into a lot more detail about the relationships and actions of the various characters.  I found Heathcliff to be a completely unsympathetic character.  I am not sure if he is even supposed to be considered the hero.  He is malevolent and driven to destroy everyone around him.  Mostly I found him tiresome.  Very similar to Emma, by Jane Austen.

Mean, bullying characters do not interest me.

Finished Book

For Christmas, my in-laws gave Hubby and me a Kindle.  It is so cool!  Plus, I have discovered that many of the classics are free to download, from Amazon or from Gutenberg.org or from ManyBooks.net.
This morning I finished reading Frankenstein, by Mary Shelley.  It has been a long time since I read this book.  It is hard to believe that Mary Shelley wrote that story at 19.  There were a few plot twists I had forgotten.  Definitely a good book.  But now, back to my assignment!
